Since 2019
A distributor's shop and back office, rebuilt in stages
An online shop and the internal tool that runs it: stock, orders, suppliers, field work. Modernised progressively, without ever closing.

product references managed in the catalogue
price revisions kept on record, with the previous price and the difference
user accounts, from sales to field technicians
The context
At a distributor, the visible part is the shop; the expensive part is the back office. Catalogue, stock, orders, suppliers, work carried out at customer sites: anything without a proper tool ends up in a spreadsheet circulating by email, with the copying errors that implies. The application was several years old, it worked, and its interface had aged — the classic case where a complete rewrite is tempting and would be a mistake.
What we did
- check_circleTaking over and maintaining the existing system in production before any modernisation. Stabilise, then improve.
- check_circleProgressive interface migration, screen by screen, with the old and new versions coexisting.
- check_circleThe business back office: catalogue, stock, orders, field work tracking, accounting exports.
- check_circleIntegrations with the tools already in place, to eliminate manual copying between systems.
- check_circleHosting, deployments and backups, with a single channel to report a problem.
What changed
- trending_upBusiness was never interrupted by the modernisation: every batch delivered is immediately usable.
- trending_upData is no longer copied by hand from one tool to another, so it no longer diverges.
- trending_upThe most-used screens were rebuilt first, not the easiest ones.
- trending_upOne point of contact for the shop, the back office and the servers.
